The Collingwood Clippers Swim Club (CCSC) competed in the annual Trojan Cup Invitational hosted by the Barrie Trojans on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2019.

The Clippers were one of six clubs competing (Barrie Trojans Swim Club, Breakers Swim Team, Cobra Swim Club, Orangeville Otters Swim Club and the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club). CCSC had an amazing swim meet. Out of  276 swims, 205 were personal best times, taking off a total of 1,414.06 seconds (23 minutes and 57 seconds).

This invitational awards a Trojan Cup trophy (12 and under and 13 and over categories) to the swim club that achieves the highest points average per swimmer, making it a matter of quality over quantity when it comes to taking the top prize.

This year the Clippers were victorious in winning the Trojan Cup in the 13 and over category! Our 12 and under swimmers had a great showing, coming in second to the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club.

Each Clipper came ready to compete and every top eight placing brought us closer and closer to that top spot. CCSC had 39 first-place finishes, 28 second-place finishes and 20 third-place finishes.

We are extremely proud of how our swimmers are representing the Collingwood Clippers Swim Club, as well as how they are supporting their fellow CCSC swimmer. This is the second overall club achievement the Clippers has won during the 2019-2020 swim season (so far).

The first was taking the second-place cash prize at the McDonald’s Team Challenge. This just goes to show what their work ethic, dedication and camaraderie can do. Well done swimmers! And let’s not forget about the help and support from our CCSC parents.

On top of winning the trophy, we also had seven short-course club records broken. Please see below for the breakdown.

800 meter Freestyle - 11:42.88
