In front of a packed house at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena, the Collingwood Blues opened Round 2 of the Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs with a 3-2 win over the Oakville Blades.

Spencer Young had everyone on their feet as he scored the Blues’ first goal, short-handed, with only one second remaining in the first period.

The momentum with the Blues’ special teams carried on in the next two periods, with Landon Wright scoring two exciting power-play goals, the first at 17:52 in the second period, and then the game winner at 2:34 in the third. The Blues held on to their lead and soaked up the applause of an appreciative fanbase.

Cheers were given for the three stars of the game: Jack Robertson, Spencer Young and Landon Wright. Congratulations to player of the game Landon Wright.

The Blues are now on the road today for Game 2 in Oakville. Game 3 is back in Collingwood on Monday night. Doors open at 6 p.m.; puck drop at 7 p.m.
