The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the region in the past 24-hours.

Two of the new cases are located in Meaford and one in the Town of the Blue Mountains (TBM).

The current cumulative total in the region is now 136, as one of the cases reported today was referred to another health unit where the individual is self-isolating.

There are now five active cases of COVID-19 in the region.

TBM has now seen a total of eight COVID-19 cases since the onset of the pandemic.

The first case of COVID-19 in TBM was reported on April 27 and the most recent case, prior to today, was reported on Aug. 11.

As reported earlier this week, an employee at the Dam Pub in Thornbury tested positive. GBHU confirmed the case was reported on the weekend. Only one case – a Meaford resident – was confirmed by the health unit on the weekend.

The health unit is reporting no active outbreaks in long-term care homes, daycares or area schools.

GBHU remains one of the only health units in Ontario to continue to have no deaths as a result of COVID-19.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Grey County included - Owen Sound (56); Southgate (16); Blue Mountains (8); Meaford (8); West Grey (8); Grey Highlands (6); Georgian Bluffs (2); Hanover (2); Chatsworth (1). Bruce County has had 28 confirmed cases.
