THE BLUE MOUNTAINS — Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing their investigation into a fatal collision between a bicycle and motorcycle on Highway 26 in The Blue Mountains. 

On May 9, 2022, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP responded to a collision involving a cyclist and motorcycle on Highway 26 at Grey Road 113 in The Blue Mountains. The cyclist was transported to local hospital by ambulance and was pronounced deceased. 

The deceased can now be identified as Leslie Irvine Beattie, 71 years-old from The Blue Mountains. 

Central Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists were called to the scene to assist with the investigation which is ongoing at this time. Highway 26 between 11th Line and Peel Street in the Blue Mountains, was closed for several hours as OPP investigation took place. 

The initial investigation has revealed that the cyclist was attempting to cross Highway 26 from a stopped positon, coming from the 10th Line when the collision took place.
