Charges have been laid in a collision that killed a Clearview Township woman and injured several others in September.

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Sept. 23, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at 3/4 Sideroad Sunnidale and Concession Road 9 Sunnidale in Clearview. A 31-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of one of the vehicles and an infant passenger were airlifted to a Toronto hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Numerous other passengers, including another child, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

In a news release issued Wednesday, Huronia West OPP said the accused was driving 173 km/h in an 80 km/h zone in poor weather conditions, failed to stop at a stop sign, and collided with another vehicle.

A 33-year-old from Adjala-Tosorontio Township, whose name has not been released, has been charged with dangerous operation causing death and three counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Collingwood in February.
