Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice used a joke to ease any panic regarding an injury to Patrik Laine. Rookie Kyle Connor scored twice as Winnipeg defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in overtime Tuesday night, but it came with a scare.

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Senators rallied around their grieving captain Tuesday night. Star defenceman Erik Karlsson didn't play in Ottawa's 7-2 home loss to the Florida Panthers. Earlier on Tuesday, the NHL club revealed Karlsson's son had died.

OTTAWA — With three key players out of their lineup, the Ottawa Senators didn't have nearly enough Tuesday night. Jared McCann had a goal and two assists to lead the Florida Panthers past the Senators 7-2.

SAN ANTONIO — Joe Cannata stopped 32 shots to lead the San Antonio Rampage to a 4-2 home win over the Manitoba Moose. Manitoba (38-18-4-4) suffered the loss despite outshooting San Antonio (30-25-10-0) by a 34-16 margin in the contest.
