An innovative approach to women's golf will play out at a golf club in Creemore this month.

Mad River Golf Club and Golf Canada will host the Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur event July 23 and 24.

A total of 65 female competitors from across Canada and the U.S. are set to hit the links.

The club said this year will be the first time the Canadian Women’s Mid-Am focuses on golfers aged 25-plus in an event separate and distinct from the Canadian Women’s Senior Championship.

"As part of a larger initiative to grow the game of golf, this new format shines the spotlight on this important demographic among women golfers as their interest in the game continues to thrive," the club said in a news release.

"By offering strong competition to the top female amateur golfers from across Canada, the United States, and internationally, the 25-plus demographic are encouraged to qualify and compete in a forum that is reflective of their abilities and talent."

The public is invited to take in the event as spectators.

Interested golfers can register for the tournament here.

The Mad River Golf Club is at 2008 Airport Rd. in Creemore.
