OJHL names picks Blues high-scorer for player of the month

The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Mark McIntosh of the Collingwood Blues has been named the Warrior West Conference player-of-the-month for September after he tallied 19 points (nine goals/10 assists) during 10 games. He has six power-play goals this season.

The Blues have the best record (10-1-0-0) in the 24-team OJHL and are ranked eighth in this week’s Canadian Junior Hockey League Top 20.

In his third season with the Blues, the 20-year-old from Elora is a graduate of the Guelph Junior Gryphons AAA minor hockey program. He was a key contributor on Collingwood’s OJHL championship team last season, piling up 50 points in 44 regular season games.

Alex Hebblethwaite of the Niagara Falls Canucks was runner-up to McIntosh as the West Conference player-of-the-month. The 18-year-old from Mississauga scored eight goals and added seven assists in seven games for expansion Canucks last month. 

Playing Jr. B with the Canucks in the GOHL last season, Hebblethwaite had  31 goals and 24 assists in 41 games.  In the GOHL Golden Horseshoe Conference, he was Rookie of the Year, co-recipient of Rob Judge Memorial Trophy for most goals scored, won the Cecil Jones Memorial Award as Most Gentlemanly Player  and was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
