Colts head into game three with 2-0 lead for first round of playoffs

The Collingwood Colts will play their third post-season game today in the first round of division playoffs, and they’re hoping to build on their 2-0 lead for this series.

The Colts took their first playoff victory in a home game on Saturday (Feb. 29) against the Stouffville Spirit, and won again in Stouffville on March 1 for game two.

The following are the game reports submitted by the Collingwood Colts.

The Collingwood Colts had to wait an extra day before facing their round one opponents the Stouffville Spirit. The game originally scheduled for Friday was played Saturday, a back and forth defensive game. Collingwood opened the scoring in the second period when forward #21 Rocco Testa-Basi scored to give the Colts a 1-0 lead. Stouffville answered five minutes later to tie it up at 1-1.

The game remained tied and went into a second overtime period before Colts forward Patrick Brown (67) scored and helped earn Collingwood the victory.

The Feb. 29 game was played on home ice at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena, and Collingwood began the evening honouring their graduating players. Adrian Nabuurs, Nicholas Cirone, Owen Ledwell and Landis Antonic. Each received recognition in a pre game ceremony.

There’s no rest for teams in playoff action, and the Colts were back on the ice the next day (March 1) at 2:30, this time in Stouffville for game two.

The Colts were looking to build off their thrilling double overtime win in game one.

The Colts affiliate player #14 Stewart Crossley opened scoring with his first-ever OJHL Goal and an important one in the playoffs.

Collingwood added to the slim lead as forward #8 Vladislav Dvurechenskii scored to m ake it 2-0.

The Colts scoring continued thanks to forward #20 Payton Schaly who finished off a nice passing play to make it a three goal advantage.

In the second period Collingwood Captain #22 Adrian Nabuurs tacked on another goal to make it 4-0 Colts. Up by a big margin in the third period the Colts add one more to make it 5-0 thanks to #8 Vladislav Dvurechenskii who scores two en route to a Collingwood 5-1 victory.

Game three will be tonight in Collingwood at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena. This round of playoffs is a best of seven, and the winner will earn a spot in the division finals.
