Collingwood’s junior hockey team is likely headed to playoffs to wrap up the first-ever season of the Collingwood Colts.

At the time of writing this article, the Collingwood Colts sit in third place in the North Division. The division standings are very tight with only eight points separating the first place and the fourth-place team.

At this time, it is safe to project Stouffville (50), Pickering (48), Collingwood (46) and Markham (42) will make the playoffs. Aurora sits solidly in last place and out of the playoff race at 14 points. The regular season ends February 23.

Since teams have played an unequal number of games, sports leagues like to share with fans their winning percentage. The Collingwood Colts currently have a 0.548 winning percentage, which means in 55 per cent of their games, they take two points for a win, or one for a tie.

The league consists of 22 teams in four divisions. Looking at it league-wide, the Colts are in 10th place in a 22-team league. This is a great result for a first-year team.

One other interesting fact is home game attendance. At this point, the Collingwood Colts are number one in league attendance averaging 723 fans per game. The next closest team, Trenton, averages 597 fans per game. The North York team sits last and averages 63 fans per game. The league average is 229 fans per game.

  1. all athletes, hockey players are performers. Veteran hockey people know that playing in front of a full house attracts the best players. So please continue to fill up the Eddie Bush arena to cheer on this year’s Colts, and help recruit skilled players for next season.
