Three new cases of COVID-19 reported in Grey Highlands today

There are currently six active COVID-19 cases in Grey Highlands and 204 active cases in Grey and Bruce counties

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 28 new cases of COVID-19 today. 

The new cases are located in: Owen Sound (8), Meaford (4), Grey Highlands (3), Arran Elderslie (2), Huron Kinloss (2), Saugeen Shores (2), South Bruce Peninsula (2), Southgate (2), Saugeen First Nation (1), Chatsworth (1), and Kincardine (1). 

Currently, there are 204 active cases in both counties combined and the health unit is tracking 309 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

The region has also had a total of 484 variant cases, nine of which are active. 

Active COVID-19 cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (48), Southgate (6), Blue Mountain (3), Grey Highlands (6), Hanover (2), Meaford (15), Georgian Bluffs (4) and Chatsworth (2).  

Of GBHU’s 1,787 cumulative cases, 1,572 cases are resolved and nine Grey-Bruce residents have died from COVID-19. 

There are also nine confirmed cases in hospital in Grey Bruce, as well as five Grey-Bruce residents being hospitalized outside of the region.   

To date the health unit has administered 181,452 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, 22,477 of which were administered in the past seven days.  

According to GBHU, 72.6 per cent of the eligible population in Grey Bruce has received the first dose of the vaccine and 44.5 per cent have received both doses. 

GBHU received a shipment of 29,220 vaccine doses on July 5, which will be focused on vaccine distribution to first and second dose vaccine clients via scheduled hockey hubs and some walk-in clinics; First Nation/Metis communities; immuno-compromised/pregnancy focused clinics; eligible priority groups; mobile clinics; and homebound.

All Ontarians aged 18 years or older are now eligible to rebook their second-dose appointments for an earlier time. Appointments can be made through the provincial on-line booking system for COVID-19 vaccinations at ontario.ca/bookvaccine

In addition, GBHU has an app to assist Grey-Bruce residents in booking their COVID-19 vaccine appointments. The app is available free to download from Google Play and Apple Stores for all mobile devices and tablets.
