The Town of The Blue Mountains has opened the nomination period for the Volunteer Recognition Awards.

The nomination period will be open from Feb. 21, 2024, to March 6, 2024.

Launched in 2022, the town’s annual Volunteer Recognition Awards event was created to celebrate and honour the outstanding residents and organizations contributing to the quality of life in The Blue Mountains. The awards ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at the Beaver Valley Community Centre as part of National Volunteer Recognition Week.

The annual Volunteer Recognition program will feature seven award categories that aim to recognize individual volunteers and community groups for their contribution to the local community:

  • Arts & Culture Award
  • Blue Mountains Community Builder Award (adult 26 and over, youth 25 and younger)
  • Good Neighbour Award
  • Heritage Award
  • Outstanding Community Group Award
  • Sports and Recreation Award
  • Sustainability Award

To nominate an individual or group for their dedication to the community, please complete the online nomination form by visiting the Volunteer Recognition Awards webpage here.

As part of the awards ceremony, the town will be hosting a volunteer fair from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Local community groups are invited to attend to meet with the public and discuss volunteer opportunities. An information package is available for interested groups. Those interested in registering their community group for the volunteer fair or for more information regarding the Volunteer Recognition Awards, please contact the community services department online here or at 519-599-3131 ext. 254.
