TBM to hold consultation meeting on development charges

The town will consult with the development industry on a proposal to sharply increase development charges in the community

The Town of The Blue Mountains is hosting a development industry consultation session on Tuesday, Feb, 6 regarding proposed 2024 Development Charge rates and policies that will be applied throughout the town.

The virtual meeting will begin at 5 p.m. and a meeting link will be sent to registered participants.

Development charges are levied against new development and are a primary source of funding for development-related expenditures.

The 2024 Development Charges Background Study relates to the provision of all eligible development charge services (Public library, fire services, police, parks and recreation, public works, bylaw, waste management, roads and related infrastructure and water and wastewater services).

A copy of the 2024 Development Charges Background Study will be made available on the town’s website prior to the meeting, with the anticipated development charges bylaws presented to council for passage on April 2, 2024.

In accordance with the requirements of the Development Charges Act, a copy of the development charges bylaw will be made available on the town’s website on or before Tuesday, February 27, 2024 (two weeks in advance of the statutory public meeting).

The statutory public meeting will be held on March 12, 2024, all participants are welcome to submit written or verbal comments regarding the draft development charge bylaw for council consideration.
