The Town of the Blue Mountains (TBM) is currently in the process of re-imagining its welcome signs.

Clarksburg resident Deb Crosskill recently wrote to TBM council to inquire about the state of the town’s welcome signs. She also requested that council consider including a nod to the local service groups.

“I would like to request council consider raising the ‘Welcome to TBM’ signs and have an area below for signage displaying the service clubs in our area,” she wrote. “Presently many of the service club signs are not displayed very well.”

She added that there are many newcomers to the area and it would be great to be able to draw more attention to the clubs.

“It would also create a tidier display of signs,” she added.

Crosskill provided the city of Markham's welcome sign as an example of what she would like to see in TBM.

TBM CAO Shawn Everitt confirmed that this is something town staff have been exploring over the past few months.

“I can confirm that we have been looking into this,” Everitt said during a council meeting held on Monday afternoon.

Although the majority of the town’s welcome signs sit on Grey County property, Everitt does not see too much of an issue in working with the county to make the appropriate changes.

“We've been successful with the county in the past in going through a permitting process for allowances,” Everitt confirmed.

“I assume that in the third or fourth quarter of 2021 we will be bringing a report with some opportunities and some visual concepts,” he added.
