The power has since been restored in Thornbury

With the lights out and the power off, The Blue Mountains council was forced to postpone a meeting.

On Jan. 15, council was holding a special meeting to receive an orientation report from its operations department. Shortly before 2 p.m., the power went out at town hall forcing the adjournment of the meeting.

The town’s manager of water and wastewater, Allison Kershaw was making a presentation to council when the lights went out. With councillors Paula Hope and Gail Ardiel attending the meeting virtually and the public watching the livestream, council had no choice but to adjourn until a later date.

Clerk Corrina Giles said the meeting would be rescheduled for a future date.

The Epcor website reported the power was out for 1,582 customers in the Thornbury/Clarksburg area for an undetermined cause. The Hydro One website showed the outage impacting more than 6,000 customers in The Blue Mountains and the municipalities of Meaford and Grey Highlands.

Power was restored in Thornbury at approximately 2:15 p.m.
