One new case of COVID-19 reported in Grey Highlands today

There are currently 68 active cases and 425 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases in Grey and Bruce

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting six new cases of COVID-19 in the region in the past 24 hours. 

The six new cases are located in the South Bruce Peninsula (2), Grey Highlands (1), Owen Sound (1), Southgate (1), and the Northern Bruce Peninsula (1).

In addition to the new cases, six additional cases were transferred into Grey-Bruce from other health units since the weekend. The health unit has reported a total of 870 cases in the region to date.

There are 68 active cases in both counties combined, and the health unit is currently tracking 425 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (12), Southgate (5), Grey Highlands (1), the Town of The Blue Mountains (12), Hanover (4), Chatsworth (5) and Georgian Bluffs (3).   

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 58 cases of variants of concern (VOC), 21 of which are active. 

There have been four deaths due to COVID-19 in Grey and Bruce combined, and there are currently five individuals being hospitalized due to the virus - three locally and two outside of Grey-Bruce.

Of GBHU’s 870 cumulative cases, 798 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (133); Southgate (104); Grey Highlands (75); West Grey (49); Blue Mountains (64); Hanover (48); Meaford (26); Georgian Bluffs (8); Chatsworth (13). 

To-date GBHU has currently administered 32,134 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This week, the health unit will focus on vaccine distribution to clients 70 years and older, First Nation communities and First Nation clients, and retirement home staff, residents and essential caregivers (second dose).
