The Town of The Blue Mountains has opened its groomed winter trails.

This week, the town advised residents that winter trails at the Municipal Recreation Complex and the Georgian Trail are now open for public use and will be maintained throughout the winter season, weather permitting.

Municipal Recreation Complex

The groomed trails at the Recreation Complex are now open for public use from sunrise to sunset. The town is asking that members of the public maintain a one-way traffic flow to allow space for both cross-country skiers and general usage.

It should be noted that during the winter, the recreation complex is a paid parking location. Residents may display their 2023 Parking Passes until March 15, 2024, or register their licence plate here or at Town Hall to park for free. For more information regarding parking registration, visit the website. More information about the trail loop can be found on the trail map here.

Georgian Trail

The town will continue to groom the Georgian Trail throughout the winter season. The Georgian Trail is a multi-use trail for walking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking, and other eco-friendly activities. Due to limited space, there will not be set tracks for cross-country skiing on the Georgian Trail.

The town is also emphasizing that motorized vehicles and gas-powered machines are not permitted on the Georgian Trail or at the Recreation Complex. In addition, all dogs must be leashed. Those using the trails are asked to respect the town’s natural areas by taking all garbage with them.

Those using the public trails are asked share the trail and be respectful of others and remember to remove skis or snowshoes when crossing a road.

More information on town trails can be found on the trails and hiking page.
