The Municipality of Grey Highlands is currently developing a Municipal Climate Action Plan to reduce the impacts of a changing climate and do its part to mitigate climate change.

The plan is in response to the municipality’s declaration of a climate crisis and to undertake leadership on climate action in the community.

Intended to address the energy consumption at municipal facilities, the plan is meant to find efficiencies, reduce waste, and, as a result, help municipal operations become more sustainable and cost-efficient.

This plan focuses on climate action in municipal operations. It will integrate with and support the Grey County Community Climate Action Plan, which addresses community emissions across Grey County.

The Grey Highlands Climate Action Report is a comprehensive plan that will guide the community through the climate crisis and help reduce local greenhouse gas emissions. The report was developed by the Climate Action Committee Task Force, which includes members appointed by Grey Highlands council to develop a fact-based action plan for fighting the climate crisis in Grey Highlands.

The Grey County Climate Action Plan “Going Green in Grey” was developed by the county’s Climate Change Task Force and other internal and external working groups. The plan’s goal is a 30 per cent reduction in community greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and a net-zero community greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The full plan can be found here.

Grey Highlands would like to hear from the public and local residents on its climate action plan.

Input from local residents is invaluable. It will help the municipality understand community perspectives and priorities for how Grey Highlands should act on climate change and implement initiatives that benefit our environment, economy, and community health. This survey aims to hear local feedback, insights, and thoughts in a structured format. The full survey can be found here.
