The Grey Highlands Public Library Board is searching for a new CEO.

In a Sept. 22 news release, the board announced that current CEO, Jennifer Murley, would be leaving Grey Highlands to take on the role of CEO at the Blue Mountains Public Library.

“It is with regret that we announce the resignation of our current CEO Jennifer Murley, who has led the Library system for the past two years, but we will be working together to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of the library’s programs and services,” said Stewart Halliday, library board chair.

The Blue Mountains Library CEO position became vacant a few weeks ago when Dr. Sabrina Saunders resigned. The library board said she was departing the job due to health concerns.

Grey Highlands Public Library Board posted the library CEO vacancy on Sept. 22 with the deadline for cover letters and resumes to be submitted to [email protected] by Friday, Oct. 13 at 5 pm.

The board has appointed an ad hoc hiring committee for recruitment, consisting of Stewart Halliday (library board chair), Janet Carson (chair of the personnel and policy committee), and Steve Maloney (board member).

The first round of interviews is scheduled to take place the week of Oct. 16, 2023.

The board said Murley will be focusing the next few months on completing ongoing projects, including the library’s new strategic plan, the partial renovation of the Walter Harris Memorial Library in Markdale, and assisting with the Friends of the Flesherton Library’s Annual Harvest Café with author and president of the Law Commission of Canada, Shauna Van Praagh, taking place on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Flesherton Kinplex.
