Grey Highlands councillor Nadia Dubyk has been elected the vice-chair of the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority.

Dubyk was selected to the position at the authority’s board of directors meeting on Jan. 24. The board’s first meeting of the year functions as its annual general meeting, when the board chair and vice-chair, along with committee appointments for the coming year are decided.

The 2023 chair and vice chair - Sue Carlelton (Georgian Bluffs) and Scott Greig (Owen Sound) - chose not to seek reelection to the positions, which opened the jobs to other members of the board.

Long time former board chair Dick Hibma was selected as temporary chair to conduct the elections. Meaford director Rob Uhrig was acclaimed to the position of chair. Dubyk was nominated for the vice-chair role, along with Georgian Bluffs member Tobin Day.

A secret ballot vote was then held and Dubyk was elected through that process.

Uhrig is a first-term member of Meaford council and was happy with getting the chance to serve as chair.

“Hopefully we can have a great 2024 and thank you for the opportunity,” he said.

Dubyk is also on her first term of council in Grey Highlands.

“I really look forward to this opportunity. This is such a great organization. I will do my best in this role,” she said.
