Final approval of the severance near Kimberley was delayed after concerns about karst topography on the property

The rezoning is a condition for the creation of a new lot near Kimberley on 3rd Line A.

The Municipality of Grey Highlands is on the verge of finalizing a consent severance dating from 2019.

On Oct. 23, Grey Highlands council held a public meeting to hear comments or concerns about a rezoning application that would rezone a property in the former Euphrasia Township near Kimberley to rural residential to allow for the creation of a new lot. The severance will create a new 1.4 hectare lot from the original 83 hectare parcel. The lot will have frontage on Sideroad 3A.

The severance application originally came before the municipality’s committee of adjustment in 2019. It was delayed by concerns about karst topography on the property, located at Lot 4, Concession 2.

The proponent’s planning consultant, Don Scott of Cuesta Planning, told council at the public meeting that the concern had been alleviated.

“That issue has now been addressed,” said Scott. “Hopefully council will take this on to the next council meeting and pass the necessary zoning bylaw.”

Planner Andrew Payne said there were no written concerns submitted by any commenting agencies or the public. There were zero comments or objections about the proposal at the public meeting.

Grey Highlands Mayor Paul McQueen indicated his support for the proposal.

“It’s appropriate that this keeps moving forward. It’s a positive thing,” he said.
