Long-term care (LTC) facilities in Grey County will remain under modified recommendations in Stage 3, following an ask from the region’s medical officer of health (MOH).

“Today, we received additional updates related to Grey Bruce Public Health (GBHU) modified Step 3 recommendations to help contain the spread of COVID-19. The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases related to the delta variant in our area is very concerning,” stated Jennifer Cornell, director of long term care in Grey County.

Yesterday, Dr. Ian Arra, MOH for the GBHU, issued modified Stage 3 recommendations that "strongly recommended" gatherings in the region stay under 25 people outdoors and five people indoors as the region copes with having the highest COVID case incidence rate in the province.

In accordance with this ask, Cornell has confirmed Grey County’s three care communities – Grey Gables, Lee Manor and Rockwood Terrace – will be adhering to the request and will continue with the following:

  • Up to 10 people at a time can come for an outdoor visit with a LTC home resident. (Masks are still required for all outdoor visits)
  • All residents may have up to two general visitors and two caregivers at a time for an indoor visiting station. (Indoor visitors are required to undergo rapid antigen testing upon arrival)
  • Eyewear protection will continue for team members and partially and non-immunized indoor visitors when two-metre physical distancing is not maintained
  • Short-term social and temporary leaves remain for fully immunized residents only
  • Resident screening will be reduced to once a day
  • Partially and non-immunized individuals will continue to follow surveillance testing two to three times a week
  • Effective Monday, July 19th fully immunized individuals will be exempt from surveillance testing
  • Fully immunized means having two vaccine doses and completing a wait period of 14 days
    • Proof of immunization is now required by showing the physical or emailed receipt that was provided to them at the time of vaccination.
  • Our Colour It Connect Program offers virtual, window, indoor and outdoor station visits. These visits can be scheduled using the online booking tool at grey.ca.
  • Do not visit if you are feeling unwell

“We appreciate your cooperation to help our community reduce the spread of infection. Our focus remains the health and wellbeing of our residents, families, team members and community,” Cornell added.
