Collingwood gets $1.6M from province for roads, bridges, water

Grey County municipalities get $11.8 million for infrastructure

The Town of Collingwood has been promised $1.6 million from the Ontario government to help pay for "critical" infrastructure needs. 

Annually, the province allocates infrastrucutre funding to Ontario municipalities, and it is earmarked for projects involving roads, bridges, and water and wastewater infrastructure. 

Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson's office sent a news release announcing $17.4 million for municipalities in his riding. The province's Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund will be allocating $400 million to municipalities this year. 

In addition to Collingwood's $1.6 million, the rest of the $17.4 million for Simcoe-Grey is allocated as follows: 

  • Adjala-Tosorontio:  $371,911  
  • Clearview:  $887,821 
  • Essa: $969,687 
  • Grey County:  $3,042,024  
  • New Tecumseth:  $2,465,011 
  • The Blue Mountains:  $1,710,658 
  • Wasaga Beach:  $1,747,473 
  • Simcoe County:  $4,590,718 

Municipalities in Grey County are receiving a combined total of $11,895,242 in infrastructure funding from the provincial government, including $1.7 million for The Blue Mountains and $754,175 for Grey Highlands. 

Other Grey County municipalities are receiving the following amounts:

  • $319,230 - Chatsworth
  • $417,455 - Georgian Bluffs
  • $475,692 - Hanover
  • $1,145,272 - Meaford
  • $2,507,541 - Owen Sound
  • $507,792 - Southgate
  • $981,295 - West Grey

The fund supports local infrastructure projects by providing funding for rural and northern communities, as well as for communities with populations under 100,000.

Communities may accumulate their funding for up to five years to address larger infrastructure projects.
