24 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Grey-Bruce since Friday

There are currently four active cases in Grey Highlands and eight active cases in the Town of the Blue Mountains

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 24 new cases in the region since Friday. Of the 24 new cases, three are located in the municipality of Grey Highlands. 

The health unit has reported a total of 814 cases in the region to date. There are 59 active cases in both counties combined. 

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (14), Southgate (5), Grey Highlands (4), the Town of The Blue Mountains (8), Hanover (3), Chatsworth (5) and Georgian Bluffs (2).   

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 35 cases of variants of concern (VOC), 10 of which are active. 

There have been four deaths related to COVID-19 and there are currently six individuals being hospitalized in the region with COVID-19. 

The health unit is currently tracking 394 high-risk contacts associated with active cases.

“It takes a tremendous amount of effort to manage this number of high-risk contacts. This number will keep increasing, unless we limit, starting today, our unprotected encounters with all people outside of our own households,” said Dr. Ian Arra, medical officer of health for GBHU. 

As previously reported, the health unit is managing an outbreak at the Owen Sound Hospital. The hospital remains in outbreak status.  

Of GBHU’s 814 cumulative cases, 751 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (121); Southgate (102); Grey Highlands (71); West Grey (49); Blue Mountains (56); Hanover (46); Meaford (26); Georgian Bluffs (7); Chatsworth (11).
