Ruki MacInnis celebrated with a Random Act of Kindness for her years of work running local tennis group

Ruki is a passionate, dedicated volunteer who has made tennis accessible and fun for many local women

Ruki MacInnis runs a daily morning tennis group from April to October, coordinating a large number of participants with varying levels of ability.

Regardless of skill level, age or background, Ruki is always attentive to everyone’s wellness on and off the court, ensuring everyone has a chance to participate fairly. She goes out of her way to make the women in the tennis group feel welcomed and valuable.

“Her dedication to fitness, sportsmanship and support has truly aced the game,” said Nicolette Hollander, who nominated Ruki for CollingwoodToday’s Random Act of Kindness program. “She’s really created a rallying point for her tennis community group.”

“Ruki’s tireless efforts embody the true essence of friendly competition, reminding us that in the game of life, we can all be winners,” said Nicolette.

“When I moved to Collingwood I was looking for people to play tennis with. I looked out my window and saw ladies playing and thought maybe I’d join them,” Ruki told CollingwoodToday. “I helped organize it so we can play regularly, and so the ladies can play against others with the same skill level to make it more exciting.”

She has done this for many years and expected nothing in return. Our team at CollingwoodToday wanted to show Ruki how much that means to our community, so we surprised her with a Random Act of Kindness.

“I had no idea,” Ruki said of the surprise. “I want to thank Nicolette for nominating me and to say thanks for the wonderful surprise. I really wasn’t expecting this.”

Thank you to our generous co-sponsors, Brunello At 27 On Fourth, Collingwood Flowers and Decor and Good Health Mart Collingwood, for helping to make this Random Act of Kindness possible.

Our nomination form is always open to nominate someone in the community who selflessly gives of themselves despite challenges or hardships, is positive in the face of adversity, or is just plain extraordinary and deserves a special surprise.
