Shannon Robinson is always giving back to others.

She is known for organizing fundraising events through her business, Unforgettable Looks Salon, to encourage the community to join in and support various non-profit organizations in need.

“Shannon is such a good soul, she does so much for our community and expects no recognition in return,” said Pamela Deshaies, her nominator. “Not only that, but she’s also always trying to get our community partners to work with her to make improvements in our city.”

Her generosity extends beyond hosting and organizing fundraising events, as she offers incentives to others to help raise money, gather food, or collect other donations.

“People will walk into the salon and ask for a donation and she will make it happen,” Pamela said.

Shannon funds these efforts out of her own pocket, truly embodying the spirit of giving.

When asked what inspires Shannon to give back, she said she thinks it is just her upbringing.

“My mom used to work for the Salvation Army and I would help and you really saw the direct need in the community,” she said. “I see great value in giving back - it's a win-win all around.”

To thank Shannon for her kindness, our CollingwoodToday team surprised her with some sweet treats, flowers and gift certificates for her to spoil herself.

“I was overwhelmed. It changed my day and totally blew me away,” Shannon said of the surprise. “I wasn’t doing any of this for recognition. I feel very humbled and grateful.”

Shannon encourages others to try and lift someone else’s day with a simple act of kindness.

“It feels good to put a smile on someone’s face,” she said.

Thank you to our generous co-sponsors, the Iron Skillet and Collingwood Flowers and Decor for helping us make this Random Act of Kindness possible.

Our nomination form is always open to nominate someone in the community who selflessly gives of themselves despite challenges or hardships, is positive in the face of adversity, or is just plain extraordinary and deserves a special surprise.
