Wasaga Beach man charged with driving almost 70 km/h over speed limit

WASAGA BEACH - On Feb. 4, 2020 around 11 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a male motorist with stunt driving on Highway 26 in Wasaga Beach. The vehicle accelerated eastbound exceeding the posted speed limit of 90 km/h. The RADAR registered a speed in excess of 157 km/h.

A 33-year-old male from Wasaga Beach, Ont. was subsequently charged with:
    •    Stunt driving 172(1),
    •    Own or operate motor vehicle on a highway, no insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act section 2(1)(a),
    •    G1 driver licence holder unaccompanied by a qualified driver, contrary to section 340/94 5(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

The driver will appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on April 7, 2020 to answer to the charge
