Officers from three area detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police will be working together in the coming days to conduct a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere initiative in the interest of road safety during the festive season.

Although OPP officers conduct R.I.D.E. check stops 365 days of the year, members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains, Huronia West and Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachments will be working in partnership to conduct R.I.D.E. checks from Dec. 15-18, 2021 at various locations.

Partnering detachment resources in this manner allows for more time to dedicate to this important initiative which translates into safer roads through education, removing impaired drivers, and preventing crashes which always have tragic consequences.

Motorists should plan ahead if they plan on consuming impairing substances while out on the town. There are many alternative options to remove impaired driving from the picture, such as a designated driver, taxi, ride share, public transit, or staying the night.

Remember, never drive impaired!
