Collingwood driver facing charges after ditching vehicle

Police also issued a charge to a Wasaga Beach resident they say failed to provide a breath sample after rolling an ATV

The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals with impaired driving in one day.

On April 28, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., Huronia West OPP responded to a single all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rollover collision at a residence on Union Boulevard in Wasaga Beach. The driver was transported to the local hospital with non-life-altering injuries. During the investigation, officers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. As a result a 29-year-old of Wasaga Beach has been charged with the failing to provide a breath sample.

At approximately 6:50 a.m., Huronia West OPP responded to a single motor vehicle in the ditch on Crossland Road in Springwater Township. Officers quickly determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. As a result a 35-year-old from Collingwood, has been charged with the following:

  • Adult Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
  • Adult Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

Both accused are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
