Third person charged with first-degree murder in Owen Sound case

A 17-year-old was shot and killed on July 11, say police, three people have now been charged with first-degree murder in connection with this death

A third person has been arrested and charged with murder murder following a homicide this summer in Owen Sound. 

The Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) criminal investigation branch have arrested a 17-year-old from Brampton and charged the suspect with First Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.  

On July 11, around 1 a.m., Owen Sound police officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on 6th Avenue West, where they located a deceased 17-year-old youth in what investigators believe was a targeted shooting. 

Two other people have been charged in connection with this homicide, including a 25-year-old North York man, and a 34-year-old Owen Sound man. All three have been charged with first-degree murder. 

None of the charges have been proven in court. 

All three of the accused remain in police custody.
