Suspicious vehicle call leads to drug charges in Wasaga Beach

Police say they responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle and a person sleeping in the driver seat

On Nov. 6, 2020, members of Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle.

Shortly after 6 a.m., on Nov. 6, 2020, officers were dispatched to the area of Mosley St. and 30th in Wasaga Beach for a suspicious vehicle and a person sleeping in the driver's seat. Police quickly attended the location and upon speaking to the driver officers observed drug paraphernalia on the center console which led to his arrest and transportation to the Huronia West detachment for processing.

Luke Hamelin (37 years) of Wasaga Beach, Ont. was arrested and is charged with;

  • CDSA 4(1) Adult poss of a schedule I substance - cocaine
  • CDSA 4(1) Adult poss of a scheduled l substance - other drugs
  • CC 733.1(1) Adult fail to probation order

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
