Suspects at large following Barrie bank robbery

'Initial reports have two, possibly three, persons that entered the bank and robbed it and then fled in a vehicle,' police official says of robbery at Minet's Point

Barrie police are searching for suspects after a south-end bank was robbed just before 4 p.m. today at Minet’s Point and Yonge Street.

Police received a call at 3:40 p.m., Friday, indicating the Scotiabank located at 190 Minet’s Pt., had been robbed.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday that investigators are still piecing together what happened.

“Initial reports have two, possibly three, persons that entered the bank and robbed it and then fled in a vehicle,” he said.

“Units are currently on scene and our criminal investigation division is assisting as well," he added.

Police don’t have descriptions of the suspects yet.

The investigation is “very much in the early stages,” Leon said.

There were no injuries and no weapons were seen during the crime, he added.
