Seven commercial vehicles removed during Blue Mountains blitz

OPP, government agencies combine efforts for blitz

Seven commercial motor vehicles were taken out of service Monday as officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP Provincial Traffic Office, in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Finance, conducted a joint commercial motor vehicle blitz in The Blue Mountains.

The Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP and our partner agencies remain committed to road safety by removing unsafe commercial vehicles from our highways and roadways. The 11 officers from the various agencies worked co-operatively to achieve significant results:

Inspections (mechanical): 30

Inspections (fuel tax evasion): 18

Vehicles taken out of service: seven

Violations (mechanical): 17

Charges under the Fuel Tax Act (coloured fuel): one

Charges under the Highway Traffic Act: five seatbelt, one driving with no licence

Inspections (International Fuel Tax Agreement): one
