Police warn dealerships to be on guard after vehicle thefts

Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit are currently investigating the theft of vehicles which have taken place at car dealerships in Central Ontario.

In the two reported incidents, including one in Collingwood, the suspect attended the dealership requesting a test drive of a high end pick-up truck located on the dealer lot and presented false identification to the sales person prior to the test drive. The suspect then drove the vehicle off the lot and never returned.

These thefts are under investigation and the OPP wishes to put dealerships on alert in regards to these incidents.
