Police arrested a Blue Mountains man and a Midland man after a months-long investigation into cocaine trafficking in Collingwood and area.

According to a news release from OPP today, police began investigating "high-level cocaine trafficking in Collingwood and the surrounding communities," in early 2023.

On Dec. 14, Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP with assistance from the Huronia West OPP arrested two men and searched three locations. In the search, police located a kilogram brick of cocaine plus some powder cocaine and methamphetamine and other items police said provided evidence of drug trafficking.

OPP estimate the street value of what they seized over $100,000.

Andrew Ronald, 43, of The Blue Mountains is facing drug trafficking charges related to cocaine and methamphetamine and is charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Shawn Frankcom, 45, of Midland was also charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on January 16, 2024.

"This investigation has made a significant impact in the illegal trafficking of drugs in multiple communities," states a news release from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP.
