Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced yesterday (Nov. 14) they seized guns and drugs from a home on Spruce Street in Collingwood after three-month-long drug trafficking investigation.

Local OPP, including the community street crimes units for Collingwood and Southern Georgian Bay, as well as the canine unit, arrested two people and searched the home on Nov. 10.

According to a news release, police seized "various controlled substances" as well as two guns, including a bolt-action rifle and a 12-gauge pump action shotgun as well as ammunition for both guns. Police seized gabapentin pills, cocaine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia.

A 39-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man were arrested. The woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and the man was charged with several offences, including unauthorized possession and careless storage of a weapon for dangerous purpose, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police said they arrested two more people at the Spruce Street home because of outstanding warrants on unrelated matters.

The two people arrested will face their charges in court in December.
