Collingwood OPP have appealed to the public for help locating the driver of a vehicle after a pedestrian was struck in the early morning but the vehicle did not remain on scene.

According to a news release from the local OPP, at about 1:30 a.m. on June 26, a man walking on Poplar Sideroad between the 6th line and the Highway 26 roundabout was struck by the side mirror of a passing truck. Police say the man fell to the ground and was later taken to hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries."

"It is possible that the driver did not realize they hit anyone as the area is very dark and the involved pedestrian was wearing dark clothing," stated the police news release.

Collingwood OPP is asking anyone with information to call them at 705-445-4321. Anonymous tips can be left with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca
