Police investigating thefts from vehicles at Springwater Trails

Police say all three incidents are related to vehicles that were parked near a trail access point while the victims were out for a walk on the trails

Between Feb. 3, 2021, and Feb. 13, 2021, the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police investigated three separate thefts from vehicles. All three occurred to vehicles that were parked near a trail access point while the victims were out for a walk on the trails.

The first incident occurred on Feb. 3, 2021. The victim was parked on Gill Road in the Township of Springwater, between the hours of 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Upon returning from their walk, the victim noticed that the window was broken and a purse was taken.

On Feb. 6, 2021, a second vehicle was entered by also having its window broken. This vehicle was parked in the lot at the Minesing Wetlands Conservation Area located on Vespra Valley Road north of Snow Valley Road in the Township of Springwater. This incident occurred between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Identification and valuables were taken.

On Feb. 13, 2021, a third vehicle had its window smashed while parked along Gill Road in the Township of Springwater. This occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. while the owner was out hiking on a local trail.
