Police find fentanyl during traffic stop in Collingwood

Police seized cash and drugs during a traffic stop in Collingwood.

Officers from the local Ontario Provincial Police detachment arrested two people on drug-related charges after a traffic stop on Third Street this weekend. 

Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP report that on Jan. 14, they stopped a vehicle on Third Street in Collingwood and found the driver had fentanyl, and the passenger was wanted for previous drug and weapon charges with outstanding warrants with the Collingwood OPP. 

Police arrested a 32-year-old Collingwood man and charged him with two counts of possession of a schedule-one substance. They also arrested a 29-year-old Collingwood woman and charged her with multiple offences, including possession of a schedule-one substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, failing to comply with bail conditions, and failing to attend court.

"At the time of her arrest, the passenger was found to be in violation of her bail conditions, as well she was possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cannabis," said police in a news release. 

The two accused Collingwood residents will face their charges in court later.
