Local police have arrested a Collingwood man after a months-long local investigation into drug trafficking.
According to a news release from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a 43-year old man was arrested on Dec. 11 when members of the Collingwood OPP community street crime unit stopped him in his vehicle.
Local OPP were joined by Huronia West and Southern Georgian Bay officers to execute search warrants at three locations in Collingwood. During the searches, police seized "a large quantity of cocaine, a shotgun, a handgun, ammunition as well as an imitation firearm."
Additionally, police seized a stolen Motorola radio and an expandable baton.
Arash Hatamabadi, 43 years of age, from Collingwood has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Possession of a Firearm contrary to a Prohibition order
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of Property obtained by Crime
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood at a future date.
