Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested three people and charged them in connection to multiple thefts from vehicles overnight in town.

Police say they were called to a home near the intersection of Sixth and Walnut Streets around 11:40 p.m. on Nov. 14. Someone reported three suspicious people trying to get into vehicles. According to a news release from police, an officer arrived and found the three suspects. One was arrested at the scene and two others fled on foot.

OPP officers searched the area and found the other two suspects hiding in a shed on a nearby property. Police say they recovered "several" items that had been stolen from vehicles earlier in the evening.

A 39-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man from Collingwood were arrested and charged with trespassing at night and possession of property obtained by crime. The man was also charged for a bail violation.

A 39-year-old man from Ottawa was also arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The OPP is reminding everyone to lock their vehicles at night and not to leave valuables in vehicles.
