Huronia West OPP officers have already laid over 250 charges this Labour Day long weekend.

Preliminary numbers showed around 97 charges were laid Friday. That was followed by another 160 on Saturday.

“Some of the charges include speeding, licence plate violations, vehicle tire violations and driver's licence offences,” said OPP in a news release.

There have also been charges under the Liquor Licence and Control Act.

Police have conducted several R.I.D.E programs and multiple vehicles have been impounded.

“The Huronia West OPP would like to thank most road users that obey laws and assist in keeping our roads safe,” police said. “Additionally, we would like to thank all law-abiding citizens who respect others property and do not put others safety at risk.”

Expect a heightened police presence all weekend long in Wasaga Beach, Springwater Township and Clearview Township.

Crimes can be reported to the OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122 or submitting an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
