A 43-year-old Orillia man was killed Saturday after breaking into a hydro transformer plant on Industrial Drive, near Forest Avenue. Police say he was electrocuted.

Police say Justin Coombs was located by emergency services personnel, just before 2:30 a.m. When he was located, he did not have any vital signs and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Acting Sgt. Terri-Ann Pencarinha, a media relations officer, told OrilliaMatters the compound is surrounded by a fence.

"There is a fence with wire at the top" around the compound, said Pencarinha, who also noted the compound was securely locked. "It would not have been easy to get into."

Initial investigation indicates that the male victim entered the transformer compound unlawfully and was electrocuted, noted a media release from the OPP.

The death is not considered suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing by members of the Orillia OPP Crime Unit.
