WASAGA BEACH - Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) proactively engage in enforcement of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and other Provincial statutes in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

On Nov. 26, 2020, a traffic stop was conducted and as a result, an unsafe vehicle was removed from the roadway. The driver was towing an enclosed trailer that lacked the prescribed equipment under the Highway Traffic Act, including no turn signals, no brake lights, and a missing fender that left a wheel completely exposed. The opposite wheel on the trailer was missing two of six lug nuts. The licence plate was seized off the trailer and the driver is facing several charges with an upcoming court date in December.

Motorists are reminded that mechanical fitness also applies to towed vehicles.

The OPP would like to remind motorists that driving is a privilege and with that comes responsibility. Do your part to help make our highways safe for everyone.
