NEWS RELEASE
ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

Officers from the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to numerous collisions in this our first week of cooler winter weather.

With temperatures dropping, snow, freezing rain and lower temperatures, drivers are reminded to adjust their driving habits to meet the changing road conditions.

The OPP is reminding motorists to take the time to prepare themselves and their vehicles for safe winter driving as we head into the winter months. Just like preparing yourself in the proper outdoor clothing, your vehicle should be equipped with the necessary items to assist you in your travels. Equipping your vehicle with proper winter tires will provide better traction, control and are proven to reduce stopping distances on snow covered or icy roads.

Winter weather conditions can change quickly, placing extra demands on your vehicle and your driving skills. The winter months are a particularly important time to stay focused on the road and on other vehicles, and eliminate all distractions.
