One dead in three vehicle collision

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) - At approximately 8:45 a.m. this morning officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a collision in the area of Mountain Road and Kells Crescent in Collingwood in regards to a three vehicle collision.

Investigation found that a west bound vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and in the process collided with one vehicle and forced another off into the ditch. The west bound vehicle continued off the roadway and came to a stop on a private property nearby.

Paramedics transported the 80 year-old male driver to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Mountain Road was closed for investigative purposes but has since re-opened.

A post mortem is scheduled to take place in the coming days at the Provincial Forensic Pathology Unit at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in Toronto to assist in the investigation however it is believed that the driver of the west bound vehicle may have suffered a medical emergency which resulted in the crash.
