Members of the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple charges in relation to a disturbance call that involved a male armed with a knife, banging on doors and threatening residents inside their apartments.

On April 28, just after 6:30 a.m., Huronia West OPP responded to a report of a disturbance at an apartment building on Perry Street in Clearview Township. While en route to the call, officers received information that a male inside the apartment building was armed with a knife and banging on people’s doors. Luckily, there were no injuries sustained during this incident.

Prior to officers arriving on scene, the male fled in a black Chevrolet Cruze. Officers received multiple reports that the suspect was travelling erratically at high rates of speed. Officers located the vehicle in the Collingwood area and commenced a traffic stop.

As a result of the investigation, Justin Stewart, 29, of New Lowell has been charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, criminal harassment (six counts), dangerous operation, and racing a motor vehicle (stunt).

The accused was transported to the Huronia West detachment, where he was held for a bail hearing.
