Male threatened with a firearm, 38-year-old arrested in Clearview Township: OPP

CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP – On April 17, 2020 at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a Weapons call in New Lowell after a male was threatened with a firearm. 

Huronia West OPP received assistance from the Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactical Response Unit (TRU) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT). Shortly after the male suspect departed his residence and was taken into custody.  

A 38-year-old male from New Lowell is charged with the following Criminal Code offences   

  • CC 264.1(1)(a) Adult uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm 
  • CC 88 Adult possession of weapon for dangerous purpose    

The accused was released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
