Impaired charges laid after two-vehicle crash in Wasaga Beach

Police say no one was injured in the collision

WASAGA BEACH - On June 28, 2020, at 1:20 p.m., a member of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on general patrol came across a two-vehicle collision on River Road West, in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

The responding officer investigated the collision and detected an odour of alcohol coming from one of the involved drivers. The officer then entered into an impaired driving investigation. No injuries were reported to police.

As a result of the investigation, Yuriy Khymych, 30 years of age, of Etobicoke, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • CC 320.14(1)(a) - Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • CC 320.14(1)(b) - Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Sept. 15, 2020.
