NEWS RELEASE
ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE
*************************
The Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to take the opportunity to remind residents and visitors to keep community safety a priority as we approach the summer months.

Responsible, respectful, and lawful visitors and motorists are welcomed to our communities, which include the Town of Wasaga Beach, the Township of Springwater and the Township of Clearview. The Huronia West OPP will continue to work together with our municipalities and bylaw, as well as other community partners and first responders, to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents and visitors.

Visitors are reminded to respect our communities, while they visit or pass through them, and not to jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighbourhoods with risky, illegal, or dangerous actions. The Huronia West OPP recognizes everyone’s right to a safe environment and will respond to unlawful events or activity in an appropriate and professional manner.

Traffic safety is everyone’s responsibility. Drivers and other road users can significantly contribute to safer roads by complying with all traffic laws, respecting others, and avoiding taking unnecessary and dangerous risks. Officers will be actively enforcing the Highway Traffic Act, including stunt driving behaviour, such as racing, drifting, or excessive speeds. Anyone who chooses to behave unlawfully may be charged and their vehicle may be towed.

Residents and visitors should expect to see increased police presence throughout the summer. Anyone who witnesses unsafe driving or unlawful activity is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 911 in an emergency.
